Table habits

Agree your table rules before the first deal

A reusable checklist that prevents avoidable scoring arguments.

Make a shared note

Write the reference name and date at the top of a sheet. Ask every player to read the same document rather than relying on a remembered app setting. This is a planning exercise, not a new ruleset.

Ask five questions

Which deck and player count are we using? Which meld table applies? Does this game pass cards? What must a team achieve to keep its points? What ends the game? Put the answers in plain language beside the reference.

Keep changes visible

If the group changes a rule, record the change before the next hand. Do not retroactively apply a new agreement to an old score. Ask someone to read the amended note aloud.

Use the tools deliberately

Open the meld chart only if its stated variant matches your agreement. The scorekeeper accepts confirmed hand deltas; it does not decide which house rules apply. Keep unusual rulings in the hand note.
